How to play at 30

Immolate sets up Conflagrate; consuming it is a timing choice, not a free extra button.

30 · Fire setup and direct casts

Pet available; Conflagrate allocated at sixteen points, safe cast space.

  1. 1

    Set up a useful Immolate

Let the pet establish pickup, then Immolate on an enemy that will survive its ticks. Shadow Bolt can fill a safe cast window; Searing Pain’s high threat can bring the enemy to you sooner.

    Abilities, conditions & paragraph sources

The sequence is our recommendation. Linked client records support the mechanics and gates; they do not prove a measured optimal rotation.

    Talents Forever · warlock client exporttalents tree/name/rank and spell_desc class|spell|rank; local content/talents.json and content/spells.json, build 1.60.1.70291
  2. 2

    Conflagrate consumes the setup

Use selected Conflagrate on your Immolate target when immediate damage or a selected Aftermath slow matters. It consumes Immolate here, so early use gives up later ticks and needs a new application if the fight continues.

  3. 3

Shadowburn needs a shard and a reason

Selected Shadowburn spends a Soul Shard and can return one if an eligible target dies in its window. Use for a timely finish, not an assumed free instant every cooldown; leave health for Life Tap and the next hit.

30 · Direct damage and assignments

Tank has threat; utility Curse and Bane target chosen.

  1. 1

    Utility before repeated casts

Apply the assigned Elements or Tongues Curse, then Immolate where it will tick and direct Shadow Bolt. Watch threat before Searing Pain; a fire-focused tree does not remove its high-threat text.

  2. 2

    Time consumption around movement

Conflagrate can give immediate damage before required movement, but check that Immolate is still present. If consuming near the end, fewer ticks are lost; the exact best timing is not simulated here.

    Abilities, conditions & paragraph sources

  3. 3

    Keep control and recovery ready

Banish or pet Seduction a valid assigned target without dots, provide Healthstones, and manage Life Tap with healer awareness. The current hard interrupt is not a level-30 Felhunter Spell Lock.

30 · Havoc and area choices

Bane of Havoc selected at twenty-one points; at least two active enemies.

  1. 1

    Havoc the second active target

Put Bane of Havoc on an active secondary enemy, then damage a different priority target. A lone enemy has no other-target damage to copy; controlled enemies must not receive the copied damage.

  2. 2

    One Bane per target

Do not overwrite your Havoc target with Bane of Agony if you still need the copying effect. Utility Curses use the separate Curse slot and can remain useful.

  3. 3

Area channels need a stable pack

Rain of Fire is a ranged channel; Hellfire adds self-damage and close-range danger. Choose only after tank threat and healer capacity are clear; stop the channel if the pack turns.

Choose for the job in front of you

LEVEL BY LEVEL · ORDINARY POINT BUDGET

Your route from 10 to 60

Pick the route for your activity, then the level you need. Start at 30 for the last verified Beta stage. Later levels remain a separate plan.

Party direct casts and two targets

Current 10–30: tanked targets, Immolate/Conflagrate setup and a controlled secondary target for Havoc at 30. Future 31–60: preserve Immolate with Shadow and Flame, then Incinerate and resource support.

When to use this route and what you give up
Use it when
Choose this for a regular dungeon damage role where cast windows and a second active target are predictable. At 30 Conflagrate still consumes Immolate; a lone enemy gives Havoc no other-target damage to copy. The order is editorial.
Trade-off
Havoc is chosen at 30 over a first Fire and Brimstone rank. Aftermath’s guaranteed Conflagrate daze is delayed until 47, and no Pyroclasm is taken. The final 38 Destruction / 13 Affliction split supports casts and Mana rather than pet mitigation.
Change direction when
Choose Affliction for solo drain sustain or Demonology when an active demon’s survival is the main concern. In a group that rarely has two active targets, compare the level-30 Fire and Brimstone choice, while preserving the Havoc prerequisite if you still want Incinerate later.

Level 30 · 21 points · Talented 0/5

This level: Bane of Havoc 1/1

At 30, mark a second active enemy while damaging another; it shares the per-target Bane slot and must avoid controlled targets.

Milestone links and the full point order work without scripts. Each link opens this route up to that level, without extra Legacy points.

Mistakes that change the outcome

  • Incinerate is later

Incinerate is the thirty-one-point talent from 40. Use the actually available Shadow Bolt and Fire toolkit at 30 instead of importing a later Immolate–Incinerate loop.

    Abilities, conditions & paragraph sources

The sequence is our recommendation. Linked client records support the mechanics and gates; they do not prove a measured optimal rotation.

  • Conflagrate cannot ignore its prerequisite

No active Immolate means the current Conflagrate condition is missing. Check the debuff before pressing it, especially after another consumption or target switch.

Stat priorities at 30

Upgrade priorities for level-30 play, not simulated stat weights. First keep enough health and resources for your role; compare upgrades of similar level. Hit and critical chance depend on the target and your allocated talents; no universal cap is assumed.

  1. Spell power
  2. Intellect
  3. Critical chance
  4. Stamina

Ruin makes critical damage talent-dependent. Keep enough Intellect for direct-cast sequences and distinguish Fire from Shadow bonuses; a school-only item is not universal spell power.
