How to play at 30

Apply only dots that will finish, then drain; Life Tap must leave a survivable health bar.

30 · Dots and drain

A summoned pet, one controlled enemy and a safe drain channel.

  1. 1

    Pet and useful dots first

Let a Voidwalker establish the pull, then Corruption and Bane of Agony if the enemy will live long enough. Siphon Life is a twenty-one-point choice; on short-lived targets fewer dots can save both time and Mana.

    Abilities, conditions & paragraph sources

The sequence is our recommendation. Linked client records support the mechanics and gates; they do not prove a measured optimal rotation.

    Talents Forever · warlock client exporttalents tree/name/rank and spell_desc class|spell|rank; local content/talents.json and content/spells.json, build 1.60.1.70291
  2. 2

    Drain from a stable position

Use Drain Life to recover health while damage ticks, with selected Fel Concentration helping channel safety. A Nightfall proc, if selected and actually present, permits its instant Shadow Bolt; do not interrupt every useful drain for an ordinary hard cast.

  3. 3

Tap and shard without risking death

Life Tap converts health to Mana; use it between safe pulls or while healing support is agreed. Drain Soul can generate shards over its ticks, so channel in a safe window rather than expecting one shard from every button press.

30 · Sustained damage and utility

Tank holds enemies; one utility Curse and one Bane can serve distinct purposes.

  1. 1

    Apply the assigned utility first

Use Curse of the Elements or Tongues when assigned, then a useful Bane and Corruption on the kill target. Banes are separate from utility Curses, but only one Bane per caster can be active on the same target.

  2. 2

Drain or bolt according to the real gap

Use a safe Drain Life when health recovery matters or an actual Nightfall Shadow Bolt proc; otherwise a stationary Shadow Bolt can fill time. Keep healing allies informed before repeated Life Tap turns the assignment into extra healing load.

  3. 3

Control the valid creature, know the interrupt limit

Banish controls a valid Demon or Elemental; Seduction requires a Sayaad and a Humanoid without breaking damage. Felhunter is summoned at 30, but Spell Lock begins at 36 in this snapshot, so a teammate handles the current hard interrupt.

30 · Selective multidot

Only tanked active enemies; controlled targets left untouched.

  1. 1

    Dot durable active targets

Spread Corruption and appropriate Banes only when each enemy will survive their ticks. Leave sheep, Sap, Banish and Seduction targets clear rather than turning control into a damage pad.

  2. 2

Use exhaustion for a real movement need

Curse of Exhaustion, if selected, slows a valid target but occupies your Curse choice. Decide whether a movement slow or assigned Elements/Tongues effect is more useful now.

  3. 3

Stop spread when the group is unstable

Focus the kill target and use the available Healthstone or pet control to survive. Fear can send enemies into other packs, so use it only in clear space with a recovery plan.

    Abilities, conditions & paragraph sources

The sequence is our recommendation. Linked client records support the mechanics and gates; they do not prove a measured optimal rotation.

Choose for the job in front of you

  • Duration decides dot value

Bane of Agony ramps through its duration; a target dying early loses later ticks. A quick direct finish or drain can be more useful than applying every available effect.

  • Life Tap needs both resource bars

Health, incoming damage and healer workload matter as much as Mana. Leave health for the next hit and self-recovery; a full Mana bar at unsafe health is not successful resource management.

The sequence is our recommendation. Linked client records support the mechanics and gates; they do not prove a measured optimal rotation.

LEVEL BY LEVEL · ORDINARY POINT BUDGET

Your route from 10 to 60

Pick the route for your activity, then the level you need. Start at 30 for the last verified Beta stage. Later levels remain a separate plan.

Solo dots and draining recovery

Current 10–30: a pet-assisted single pull that lives long enough for Corruption and drains. Future 31–60: Wrack, additional sustain and demon health support.

When to use this route and what you give up
Use it when
Choose this when maintaining health and Mana over several ordinary pulls matters more than a short direct burst. Life Tap spends health, and a drain still needs a safe channel. This order is editorial; it assumes neither safe mass pulls nor measured kill speed.
Trade-off
Curse of Exhaustion at 25 uses the utility Curse slot; it cannot coexist with your Elements or Tongues on that target. The final 41 Affliction / 10 Demonology route omits Pandemic crit scaling and Destruction cast reduction to emphasize drain reliability and recovery.
Change direction when
Choose Demonology when demon survival and damage transfer are the recurring problem. Choose Destruction for a group assignment built around direct casts and controlled two-target copying.

Mistakes that change the outcome

  • Wrack is not the current filler

Wrack requires thirty-one Affliction points and starts at 40. The level-30 sequence uses actual drains, dots and Shadow Bolt instead.

  • Fear plus dots is not guaranteed control

Damage can break Fear and fleeing enemies may link other groups. Treat it as conditional control rather than an endless safe solo loop.

Stat priorities at 30

Upgrade priorities for level-30 play, not simulated stat weights. First keep enough health and resources for your role; compare upgrades of similar level. Hit and critical chance depend on the target and your allocated talents; no universal cap is assumed.

  1. Spell power
  2. Stamina
  3. Intellect
  4. Critical chance

Pandemic changes critical damage for its named spells. Keep stamina for safe Life Tap use and enough spell power for sustained damage; do not assume Classic damage-over-time critical rules.
