How to play at 30

Keep the chosen demon alive and active; Soul Link and sacrificing the pet are different routes.

30 · Demon-led survival

Active demon and Soul Link route; pet health is monitored as a resource.

  1. 1

Choose the pet for the pull

A Voidwalker can help solo pickup; use its Torment on the target, then apply a useful Corruption and cast Shadow Bolt. An Imp supplies different utility and is not the same tank.

    Abilities, conditions & paragraph sources

The sequence is our recommendation. Linked client records support the mechanics and gates; they do not prove a measured optimal rotation.

    Talents Forever · warlock client exporttalents tree/name/rank and spell_desc class|spell|rank; local content/talents.json and content/spells.json, build 1.60.1.70291
  2. 2

Link requires the demon to remain active

With Soul Link selected, activate it with a valid demon and watch both health bars. Damage transferred to a dying pet does not remove the risk; Health Funnel or a safe recovery pause keeps the plan workable.

  3. 3

    Manage both health and Mana

Life Tap changes your health and, with Demonic Energies selected, supports the demon’s Mana. Use it when the next hit is survivable; a Voidwalker Sacrifice shield is an emergency that removes the active pet.

30 · Pet utility and controlled threat

The pet is selected for the assignment; no unplanned pet tanking.

  1. 1

    Agree utility and pet behavior

An Imp’s Blood Pact, Sayaad Seduction or Felhunter Devour Magic can serve different duties. Keep Voidwalker taunts off unless assigned, and do not let an aggressive pet initiate another pack.

    Abilities, conditions & paragraph sources

    Talents Forever · warlock client exporttalents tree/name/rank and spell_desc class|spell|rank; local content/talents.json and content/spells.json, build 1.60.1.70291
  2. 2

Use damage without assuming safe Searing Pain

Shadow Bolt and useful dots are ordinary damage options. Searing Pain has high threat by default; Demonic Brand, if selected, changes specific behavior and must be read before using it repeatedly.

  3. 3

Resummon with a real shard plan

Fel Domination needs Master Summoner and can shorten a replacement summon. Keep a Soul Shard where required, choose a safe cast window and reapply Soul Link after the valid demon is restored.

    Abilities, conditions & paragraph sources

The sequence is our recommendation. Linked client records support the mechanics and gates; they do not prove a measured optimal rotation.

30 · Demon and area risk

Pack tanked and controlled targets excluded from area damage.

  1. 1

    Focus before optional area

Keep the demon on the priority target and cast Shadow Bolt or useful Corruption. Rain of Fire is an optional channel when the tank holds the pack and all targets are safe.

    Talents Forever · warlock client exporttalents tree/name/rank and spell_desc class|spell|rank; local content/talents.json and content/spells.json, build 1.60.1.70291
  2. 2

    Hellfire has self-damage

Hellfire damages you as well as nearby enemies. Coordinate with the healer and use only a safe close-range window; Soul Link makes pet health important too, not a guarantee of immunity.

    Abilities, conditions & paragraph sources

    Talents Forever · warlock client exporttalents tree/name/rank and spell_desc class|spell|rank; local content/talents.json and content/spells.json, build 1.60.1.70291
  3. 3

Control a valid creature, avoid random fear

Banish a suitable Demon or Elemental to reduce concurrent enemies, keep the pet off it, and use Fear only with clear space. There is no current Spell Lock to promise at level 30.

Choose for the job in front of you

LEVEL BY LEVEL · ORDINARY POINT BUDGET

Your route from 10 to 60

Pick the route for your activity, then the level you need. Start at 30 for the last verified Beta stage. Later levels remain a separate plan.

Active demon survival and control

Current 10–30: Voidwalker-assisted single pulls with an active demon; Soul Link arrives at 30. Future 31–60: Demonic Pact combinations and shorter direct casts.

When to use this route and what you give up
Use it when
Use this when pet pickup and your own survival are the recurring constraints. Watch both health bars after Link. Taking the Sacrifice prerequisite is not a direction to sacrifice the active demon before Pact. This is an editorial active-pet route.
Trade-off
The final 35 Demonology / 16 Destruction split trades maximum Unholy Power and deeper Felhunter utility for faster Shadow Bolt/Immolate casts and Shadowburn. Pet replacement still needs its spell and any required shard. Pact retains a sacrifice only when summoning a different demon.
Change direction when
Choose Affliction when your own draining recovery and long-lasting dots are the main plan. For a dedicated Felhunter utility assignment, move late points to Improved Felhunter rather than treating this Voidwalker route as universal.

Level 30 · 21 points · Talented 0/5

This level: Soul Link 1/1

At 30, transfer part of incoming damage to the active demon; it is not protection from a dying or absent pet.

Mistakes that change the outcome

  • Decimation does not grant Soul Fire early

A row-four Decimation effect does not remove Soul Fire’s learn level of 48. Do not put a supposed Soul Fire execute into a 30-level action list.
