How to play at 30

Use Holy threat and Seal of Fury’s taunt; place Consecration where enemies will stay.

30 · Shield single target

A shield and enough Mana for healing; tank-oriented talents.

  1. 1

    Prepare fury and the shield

Use Righteous Fury and Seal of Fury with the shield equipped. Holy Strike and Judgement provide active damage; save Mana for the self-heal before investing in Consecration against one enemy.

    Abilities, conditions & paragraph sources

The sequence is our recommendation. Linked client records support the mechanics and gates; they do not prove a measured optimal rotation.

    Talents Forever · paladin client exporttalents tree/name/rank and spell_desc class|spell|rank; local content/talents.json and content/spells.json, build 1.60.1.70291
  2. 2

Stun to create a heal window

Hammer of Justice stops a stunnable opponent long enough to begin Holy Light or Flash of Light. It is a stun with immunity limits, not a universal school lock.

    Abilities, conditions & paragraph sources

The sequence is our recommendation. Linked client records support the mechanics and gates; they do not prove a measured optimal rotation.

  3. 3

    Save a defensive bridge

Templar’s Bulwark, if selected, is an absorb for a short window and applies Forbearance. Use it before lethal pressure while arranging a heal; recover Mana before the next large pull.

    Abilities, conditions & paragraph sources

30 · Paladin tanking

Shield, Righteous Fury and Seal of Fury; plan who interrupts unstunnable casts.

  1. 1

    Place the fight before spending

Gather a manageable pack and put Consecration where it will remain, away from controlled targets and vertical adjacent packs. Begin Holy Strike and Judgement on the kill target while monitoring loose enemies.

  2. 2

    Taunt through the correct seal

Judgement of Seal of Fury taunts the target for four seconds. Use it on the loose enemy, then establish threat; Swift Judgement, if selected with its prerequisite, can reset the cooldown for another response.

  3. 3

    Mitigate and announce Forbearance

Use Bulwark before a spike and tell the healer when Forbearance prevents another protected option. Keep Holy Strike threat while the absorb lasts; coordinate Hammer of Justice on stunnable casts.

    Abilities, conditions & paragraph sources

The sequence is our recommendation. Linked client records support the mechanics and gates; they do not prove a measured optimal rotation.

30 · Area threat and loose adds

The party can finish a bounded pack before healing or Mana collapses.

  1. 1

    Keep targets inside the area

Consecration’s value depends on enemies staying in its ground effect. Move only as much as mechanics require; keep enemies facing away from the party and turn to add threat on an escaping target.

  2. 2

    Save Judgement for pickup

Keep track of Judgement’s cooldown when the party is prone to pulling threat. A free reset from Swift Judgement is a selected talent tool, not an automatic second taunt.

  3. 3

Cut the next pull to fit Mana

Blessing of Salvation may help damage allies after assignments. If Consecration plus recovery healing is exhausting Mana, reduce pack size or wait; tanking is not sustained by having a taunt alone.

    Abilities, conditions & paragraph sources

The sequence is our recommendation. Linked client records support the mechanics and gates; they do not prove a measured optimal rotation.

Choose for the job in front of you

  • 21 points buy Bulwark, not Holy Shield

Templar’s Bulwark is the row-five 21-point button. Holy Shield is the 31-point talent; current block and defensive expectations must not assume it.

The sequence is our recommendation. Linked client records support the mechanics and gates; they do not prove a measured optimal rotation.

  • Shield equipment affects Seal of Fury

The Seal’s attack absorb requires a shield. Swapping weapons for damage changes that protection and can alter the pickup plan; make the change intentionally before combat.

Your route from 10 to 60

Pick the route for your activity, then the level you need. Start at 30 for the last verified Beta stage. Later levels remain a separate plan.

Party tank · Shield, Mana and taunt recovery

Tank a planned dungeon pull with a shield, Seal of Fury and Righteous Fury; place Consecration where the party can keep enemies together.

When to use this route and what you give up
Use it when
10–30 follows the last-announced Beta cap; 31–60 is a future projection. Use when assigned to tank rather than for a universal solo build. Swift Judgement arrives at 25, Bulwark at 30, and Holy Shield at projected 40.
Trade-off
Early points favor blocks, hit, Mana and taunt recovery over two-handed quest damage. Bulwark applies Forbearance and cannot be chained as an available save while Forbearance is active.
Change direction when
For repeated caster packs, trade later Reckoning ranks for shorter Hammer of Justice cooldowns on susceptible enemies and arrange teammate interrupts for the rest.

Mistakes that change the outcome

  • No universal ranged interrupt

Hammer of Justice can stop susceptible enemies, but unstunnable casts need a teammate’s interrupt or a positioning plan. Do not rely on random Seal of Justice procs for an assigned deadline.

The sequence is our recommendation. Linked client records support the mechanics and gates; they do not prove a measured optimal rotation.

Bulwark cannot be cast during Forbearance and applies it itself. Do not script Bulwark and Divine Protection as guaranteed consecutive saves.

Stat priorities at 30

Upgrade priorities for level-30 play, not simulated stat weights. First keep enough health and resources for your role; compare upgrades of similar level. Hit and critical chance depend on the target and your allocated talents; no universal cap is assumed.

  1. Armor
  2. Stamina
  3. Intellect
  4. Spell power

Secure shield, health and armor before adding spell power for threat. Keep enough Mana for the next pull; a caster robe trades away armor and is not the default tank choice.
