How to play at 30

Keep auto-attacks productive and spend surplus Rage without pretending Bloodthirst is available.

30 · Rage and weapon uptime

Use a trained weapon; dual wield only with the actual weapon skills and gear.

  1. 1

Start with buffs and one enemy

Refresh Battle Shout, Charge a safe single enemy, and let auto-attacks build Rage. For a target that lives long enough, Rend can contribute; Heroic Strike spends surplus rather than forming an endless queue.

    Abilities, conditions & paragraph sources

The sequence is our recommendation. Linked client records support the mechanics and gates; they do not prove a measured optimal rotation.

    Talents Forever · warrior client exporttalents tree/name/rank and spell_desc class|spell|rank; local content/talents.json and content/spells.json, build 1.60.1.70291
  2. 2

Choose Slam only when you can stay

Slam occupies a cast window. Use it when you will remain in melee and can afford its Rage without losing an upcoming reaction; if positioning is unstable, keep moving with auto-attacks instead.

  3. 3

    End low-health fights deliberately

Execute is available from 24 against targets at 20% health or lower. A safe kill then enables Victory Rush healing. Piercing Howl, if selected, creates retreat room; do not spend all Rage before needing it.

30 · Damage with a safety reserve

Threat is stable; Death Wish is only used if selected and damage intake is safe.

  1. 1

    Spend behind the tank’s target

Follow the marked target from a safe non-frontal position, keep auto-attacks, and spend surplus Rage on Heroic Strike. At 30 you have neither Bloodthirst nor Whirlwind, so use the actual present toolkit.

  2. 2

Death Wish needs a safe damage window

Its damage gain also increases damage taken. Activate for a stable melee window after threat is established; delay if unavoidable damage or a temporary tank assignment is approaching.

  3. 3

Use a shield for a real interrupt

Keep a shield and enough Rage for Shield Bash in Battle or Defensive Stance. Pummel is a later learn; Berserker Rage at 30 is a fear tool, not a replacement interrupt.

30 · Cleave and retreat

Two tanked enemies; no controlled target beside them.

  1. 1

    Cleave without starving utility

Cleave spends Rage on the next swing. Use it while two valid enemies remain close and stop queuing it when Rage is needed for an interrupt, Hamstring or stance recovery.

  2. 2

Use Raging Blows for present skills

If selected, Raging Blows discounts Cleave and future Whirlwind. At 30 only the Cleave discount is actionable; the talent does not grant Whirlwind early.

  3. 3

    Separate slow from threat

Piercing Howl can slow nearby enemies while you retreat toward a pickup lane. It is not a taunt. If asked to tank, change to a shield and Defensive Stance before trying to hold the pack.

LEVEL BY LEVEL · ORDINARY POINT BUDGET

Your route from 10 to 60

Pick the route for your activity, then the level you need. Start at 30 for the last verified Beta stage. Later levels remain a separate plan.

Solo dual wield · Contact, Rage and recovery

Quest with two trained, useful weapons from the dual-wield phase, use control for a bad pull, and enter party melee only after tank pickup.

When to use this route and what you give up
Use it when
10–30 follows the last-announced Beta cap; 31–60 is a future projection. Choose for a deliberate dual-wield plan. Raging Blows arrives at 25 and Death Wish at 30; Whirlwind at 36 and Bloodthirst at 40 are future additions.
Trade-off
Off-hand talents need a usable off-hand and do not prove two weak weapons beat a strong two-hander. This client separates Gore Drinker healing from Bloodthirst and places Iron Will in Protection, unlike the older article.
Change direction when
With a better trained two-hander, use Arms or postpone the off-hand package. For party damage, keep safe flank positioning rather than taking hits just to trigger Enrage.

Mistakes that change the outcome

  • Do not imitate Heroic Strike queue tricks

Official Beta notes fix the off-hand hit increase while Heroic Strike is queued. A queue is a Rage spending decision, not a current hit-cap exploit.

  • Enrage is not permission to take damage

Being hit can trigger Enrage, but intentionally facing enemies or pulling threat adds healer work and lethal risk. Maintain safe melee positioning.

Stat priorities at 30

Upgrade priorities for level-30 play, not simulated stat weights. First keep enough health and resources for your role; compare upgrades of similar level. Hit and critical chance depend on the target and your allocated talents; no universal cap is assumed.

  1. Weapon damage / DPS
  2. Strength
  3. Hit, after talents
  4. Critical chance

A strong two-hander is a practical leveling option. For dual wield, inspect both weapons and allocated accuracy talents; a higher item level alone does not solve missed off-hand attacks.
