How to play at 30

Build threat on each enemy, retain an interrupt reserve, and use mitigation before the spike.

30 · Shield solo play

Shield equipped; trade burst speed for controlled incoming damage.

  1. 1

    Establish a controlled pull

Use Defensive Stance with a shield, or a talented Vanguard Charge if selected. Build damage with Sunder Armor and available Revenge reactions; refresh Battle Shout before spending all Rage.

    Abilities, conditions & paragraph sources

The sequence is our recommendation. Linked client records support the mechanics and gates; they do not prove a measured optimal rotation.

    Talents Forever · warrior client exporttalents tree/name/rank and spell_desc class|spell|rank; local content/talents.json and content/spells.json, build 1.60.1.70291
  2. 2

Use the reaction, keep the reserve

Revenge follows a block, dodge or parry. Shield Block can help create a block window, but reserve Rage for Shield Bash if the enemy casts; Heroic Strike is for surplus.

  3. 3

    Recover before another large pull

Use Victory Rush after an eligible kill when available, then restore health before the next dangerous enemy. Last Stand temporarily increases health; its end is not permanent healing.

    Abilities, conditions & paragraph sources

The sequence is our recommendation. Linked client records support the mechanics and gates; they do not prove a measured optimal rotation.

30 · Tank pickup and mitigation

Shield and Defensive Stance; assign kill order and interrupt coverage.

  1. 1

Tag the pack and each threat table

Open through a safe pull, use Thunder Clap and Demoralizing Shout on the active pack, then put Sunder Armor on the kill target and loose enemies. Area buttons assist pickup but do not prove every target is secure.

  2. 2

Spend on the event that is next

Use Revenge when active. Keep Shield Bash’s cost for the assigned cast, and Shield Block for expected melee pressure. Do not consume the whole bar by continuously queuing Heroic Strike.

  3. 3

    Rescue, then establish threat

Taunt a target running to the healer, then use threat attacks; it does nothing to a target already attacking you. Last Stand or Shield Wall should bridge a known damage spike or healer disruption, with cooldowns communicated.

    Abilities, conditions & paragraph sources

The sequence is our recommendation. Linked client records support the mechanics and gates; they do not prove a measured optimal rotation.

30 · Pack control

Multiple active enemies, a clear pickup lane, controlled targets separate.

  1. 1

Face enemies away from the party

Keep the pack in front of your shield and away from the healer. Tab to the enemy losing threat and add Sunder Armor; Cleave is a supplement when Rage permits.

  2. 2

    A group taunt is temporary

Challenging Shout forces nearby attacks for a short time. Use it to buy recovery time and follow with real threat; it does not reset every enemy’s threat table.

  3. 3

Concussion is a selected control tool

Concussion Blow takes the 21st point and stuns a valid target. Use it to stop a dangerous loose enemy if it is stun-susceptible; otherwise use the planned Shield Bash and tank pickup.

Choose for the job in front of you

LEVEL BY LEVEL · ORDINARY POINT BUDGET

Your route from 10 to 60

Pick the route for your activity, then the level you need. Start at 30 for the last verified Beta stage. Later levels remain a separate plan.

Party tank · Shield threat and planned stops

Tank planned dungeon pulls with a shield in Defensive Stance, keep enemies off the healer, and reserve resources for a cast stop or runaway add.

When to use this route and what you give up
Use it when
10–30 follows the last-announced Beta cap; 31–60 is a future projection. Choose when you are the tank. Last Stand arrives at 20, Vanguard at 25 and Concussion Blow at 30; Shield Slam at 40 is a future projection.
Trade-off
Early points favor shield Rage, area-attack cost and threat before full Defense. At 30 Concussion Blow takes the point that could start Focused Rage; this client puts Focused Rage in row five and Bastion in row six, opposite the older article.
Change direction when
For hard physical hits early, bring Anticipation forward by delaying Revenge or area-cost ranks. For frequent stuns or Fear, the client’s Iron Will is Protection row one, despite the older Arms placement.

Level 30 · 21 points · Talented 0/5

This level: Concussion Blow 1/1

At 30, stop a susceptible enemy for five seconds and establish Shield Slam’s future prerequisite; plan another answer for stun immunity.

Milestone links and the full point order work without scripts. Each link opens this route up to that level, without extra Legacy points.

Mistakes that change the outcome

  • Shield Slam is later

Shield Slam needs 31 Protection points and starts at 40. It is not the present opener or repeatable priority.

Absorbs do not remove Rage income

Official Warrior notes say damage absorption does not reduce Rage from incoming attacks. A priest shield is therefore not automatically harmful to your Rage generation in this design.

Stat priorities at 30

Upgrade priorities for level-30 play, not simulated stat weights. First keep enough health and resources for your role; compare upgrades of similar level. Hit and critical chance depend on the target and your allocated talents; no universal cap is assumed.

  1. Armor
  2. Stamina
  3. Strength
  4. Defense

Keep a shield equipped for Defiance and Master of Defense. Armor no longer reduces damage-taken Rage generation; do not remove mitigation to chase Rage.
