How to play at 30

Choose pet safety or Lone Wolf deliberately; do not spend Aimed and Multi as separate cooldowns.

30 · Ranged single target

A safe firing lane; Lone Wolf only functions without an active pet.

  1. 1

Choose pet or Lone Wolf before the pull

With a pet, let it establish threat before Aimed Shot. For a Lone Wolf route, dismiss the pet and open from range with a retreat path; the bonus does not supply a tank.

  2. 2

Keep shots inside a safe window

Maintain Auto Shot and use Aimed Shot when the enemy will remain outside the dead zone through the cast. Serpent Sting is for targets that survive its ticks; Arcane Shot can fill a movement or short finish.

  3. 3

    Recover range and Mana

Concussive Shot, Wing Clip and a trap can create distance, but a random stun is not a guaranteed plan. If Rapid Recuperation is selected, read its conditions before expecting Mana recovery from Serpent Sting or a kill buff.

30 · Ranged damage and control

Tank has threat; the pet choice and Trueshot Aura are agreed.

  1. 1

Set your actual aura and pet state

Activate Trueshot Aura if selected and within party range. A Lone Wolf bonus vanishes with an active pet; decide the pet’s utility value rather than assuming both benefits.

  2. 2

Use Aimed for the kill target

Use Aimed Shot on the single target, Arcane Shot when appropriate, and keep Auto Shot. Multi-Shot shares Aimed’s cooldown and can hit controlled enemies, so reserve it for a confirmed safe cleave window.

  3. 3

Scatter is control, not a boss interrupt

A talented Scatter Shot takes the 21st point and breaks on damage. Use it on a valid loose enemy before a trap, while assigning unstunnable or uncontrollable casts to a teammate’s interrupt.

30 · Shot selection

All Multi-Shot targets are active enemies; no trap target nearby.

  1. 1

Pick cleave instead of single burst

Spend the shared cooldown on Multi-Shot when several enemies will be hit safely. Switch to Aimed Shot when one priority target matters more than incidental cleave.

The sequence is our recommendation. Linked client records support the mechanics and gates; they do not prove a measured optimal rotation.

    Talents Forever · hunter client exporttalents tree/name/rank and spell_desc class|spell|rank; local content/talents.json and content/spells.json, build 1.60.1.70291
  2. 2

    Avoid stinging the trapped add

Serpent Sting can improve sustained damage and a selected Mana talent’s conditions, but its damage breaks Freezing Trap. Mark the controlled target and leave it clean.

The sequence is our recommendation. Linked client records support the mechanics and gates; they do not prove a measured optimal rotation.

  3. 3

Use Feign Death as a coordinated recovery

At 30 Feign Death can help a threat problem, but nearby enemies, resists and an active pet still need attention. Stop shots, control the pet if present, and tell the tank before resuming.

Choose for the job in front of you

LEVEL BY LEVEL · ORDINARY POINT BUDGET

Your route from 10 to 60

Pick the route for your activity, then the level you need. Start at 30 for the last verified Beta stage. Later levels remain a separate plan.

Ranged questing · Pet-backed precision

Use a permanent pet for solo pickup, keep room outside the ranged dead zone, and select a single target after the party tank establishes threat.

When to use this route and what you give up
Use it when
10–30 follows the last-announced Beta cap; 31–60 is a future projection. Choose for personal ranged damage with Mana support while retaining pet safety. Trueshot is legal at 25 in this client route; Sniper Shot is projected at 40.
Trade-off
Lone Wolf is intentionally omitted because it requires no active pet. The official deep dive calls row-four Trueshot a 21-point milestone; build 1.60.1.70291 instead permits the sixteenth point.
Change direction when
For a planned petless group role, take Lone Wolf and replace the late pet package with ranged or tracking talents. Reassess solo pickup and escapes before dismissing the pet.
